  • Universally known as one of the most trendy districts in Paris, Le Marais is actually also one of the oldest districts of the French capital, which still preserves the narrow streets and original architectural styles of the Middle Age and Renaissance. Here is also the home of the best design, undisputed star of Paris Deco Off

Texture and fabrics are two of the key themes running through the exhibition spaces of Maison&Objet, while the rest of the city is dominated by the bright, fresh vibe of Paris Deco Off. Yet silence is another important part of the event, sparking a new take on interior design

«Silence! Do not disturb this poetic, sensual, harmonious and luxurious minimalism» declares Marie-Jo Malait, editor-in-chief of Inspirations Book, which contains the guidelines for the winter edition of Maison&Objet. It is an invitation both to enjoy the stunning exhibits at the Paris trade fair and – more generally – to explore new trends in interior design, including serenity, tranquillity and simplicity.
Silence is the underlying theme running through M&O Paris (20-24 January) – which will see Pierre Charpin named Designer of the Year – and its three main sections, Maison (dedicated to interior decoration), Objet (concept and retail) and Influences (luxury, design and architecture), the last of which features an installation by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance (Halls 7 and 8).
The M&O Paris experience starts from new glamour, passing through the many facets of home decoration before reaching the childhood kingdom in Hall 6. The common denominators running through the whole event are textiles and textures, two increasingly important factors in the furniture and design sector, and indeed these are not confined to the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition centre, with Paris Deco Off (19-23 January) illuminating the entire city with colour and fabric.
Over 100 brands will be throwing open the doors to their showrooms and galleries for exclusive events to showcase the latest developments in the world of fabrics, decoration and upholstery.
This is Paris Design Week!
