The anchor event at Design Week celebrates its fifth edition with a record edition: double the space, 150 brands from 25 countries, 70 new high-level entries from the Region and world, divided into 26 manufacturing categories, all dedicated to contemporary design.
Downtown Design affirms itself as the most successful and interesting event in the Middle East with a strong appeal that attracts important names from the international scene.
Firstly, Made in Italy brands, including already committed brands (such as Antoniolupi, Borzalino, Elica, Fantini Mosaici, Illulian, Moroso) and the new entries with Alias, MDF Italia, Melogranoblu, Meridiani, Talenti. The Italian Pavilion, promoted by ICE-Agenzia, is a recurring collective dedicated to the most artisan-inspired brands.
The series of live events includes an appointments with the London duo Fredrikson Stallard, eminent speakers such as Abbie Chung from the studio 5+Design and a conversation with George Fleck (Vice President and Global Brand Management & Marketing at Le Méridien, Renaissance and Westin), Tom Arnel (Managing Director for the hospitality specialist Bull & Roo), and the architects Manit and Sonali Rastogi, from Morphogenesis.
This year the local LSD studio was entrusted with the masterplan of the exhibiting space, while the scenic installation that welcomes the visitors at the entrance of the fair carries the signature of the landscape architect Desert Ink.
